ABOUT ME

Personal Profile

I’m James, a 23-year-old London-based game designer, artist, and developer with a passion for storytelling through interactive experiences.

With a background in digital art and design from studying Interactive Digital Design at The BRIT School, and a First Class Honours degree in Game Design from Bournemouth University, I specialise in creating concepts and turning them into engaging, playable experiences. Alongside my game development skills, I also have hands-on experience in marketing, branding, and advertising, allowing me to approach projects with both a creative and commercial mindset.

Technically, I excel in C#, the Adobe Creative Suite, Unity, and Unreal Engine, using a full creative and technical toolkit to bring visions to life from concept to launch.

The BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology

UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma In Creative Media Production - Merit

Before university, I studied at The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, where I began with ICT before moving into Sixth Form to focus full-time on Interactive Digital Design.

This pathway gave me valuable experience across multiple creative and technical disciplines, including graphic design, web design, branding and advertising, game concept creation, app development, and social media studies. My time at BRIT helped build the foundation of my design practice and sparked my passion for interactive media.

2022-2025

Bournemouth University

Bsc (Hons) Game Design - First Class Honours

I studied BSc (Hons) Game Design at Bournemouth University, where I graduated with First Class Honours.

During my degree, I completed a wide range of modules that strengthened both my creative and technical skills, including Lighting and Texturing, Level Design Fundamentals, Game Design Principles, Storytelling and Narrative Development, Modelling for Animation and Games, Interface Design, Game Audio Techniques, Pervasive Gaming, Business Development, and Game Analytics. My time at Bournemouth allowed me to excel in both the artistic and analytical sides of game design, preparing me to create engaging, innovative, and well-rounded interactive experiences.

Animation Placement

Squeezed Media

In summer 2024, I completed a month-long placement at Squeezed Media Animation in London. While primarily using the time to develop my final university project, I also had the opportunity to shadow the in-house animators, present ideas of my own, and receive constructive feedback from the team. The placement gave me valuable insight into client communication, professional workflows, and the day-to-day operations of a creative studio.
